• Trainer Academy Application - Be Sensitive, Be Brave for Substance Use

    Hosted by Lines for Life
  • Thank you for your interest in becoming a Be Sensitive, Be Brave (BSBB) for Substance Use & Suicide Prevention Trainer! We are now accepting applications for the first ever BSBB SUD trainer academy, set to occur this December.

BSBB-SU infuses culture and diversity throughout a foundational workshop for community helpers. As a trainer of BSBB-SU, you will teach community members to act as eyes and ears for substance use problems and to connect individuals to help that matches their readiness to change.

This application serves as a tool to help us identify trainers who are able to provide BSBB training regularly, participate in the monthly BSBB learning collaborative and additional evaluation efforts.

All are welcome to apply, and we especially encourage applications from individuals who:

    • Have prior experience in substance use prevention
    • Speak Spanish and/or identify as Latine
    • Are part of local or regional suicide prevention task forces or coalitions
    • Work or volunteer with youth or adults at disproportionately high risk of suicide and/or substance misuse
    • Work in youth-serving organizations

    Please Note:

The BSBB Trainer Academy is held virtually and offered at no cost. Certification includes:

    • 16 hours of training across 4, 4-hour sessions
    • Independent review of trainer manuals and materials
    • A certification test and teaching demonstration

Once you've completed the trainer academy and pass your teaching demonstration, you will be certified in BSBB for Substance Use.

Langauge Note: The BSBB Trainer Academy is currently offered only in English, including all self-paced materials and the live training session. For this reason, applicants should have the ability to read, understand, and communicate in English in order to successfully complete the training and certification process. Once certified, you will be able to teach in English or Spanish.

We recognize this is not ideal, and we’re working toward better accessibility in the future. In the meantime, we want to be transparent about these expectations. Please contact our team if you have any questions or concerns.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will recieve an update from learning@linesforlife.org within two weeks of submitting your application.

Note: this is an application. Applying for an upcoming trainer academy does NOT guarantee your spot.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our training team at learning@linesforlife.org.
